Citation: Steve Larter is Canada Research Chair and Professor of Petroleum Geology in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Calgary. Dr. Larter has broad research interests which range from understanding the phenomenon of subsurface petroleum biodegradation and deep biosphere biogeochemistry, quickly reducing emissions from fossil fuel use in our current energy system transition and how to take academic research and transform it into practical technologies. Steve is also interested in large scale gamechangeing innovation projects that can solve large global problems.
