In the figure of delta D vs water content, each meteorite (e.g., Benenitra) shows various delta D values. Does the delta D variation reflect distance from the meteorite surface or simply difference of minerals?

Could the sample preparation of the finds also be responsible for the terrestrial contamination (using H-bearing epoxy, water, etc. for polished thin section preparation)?
