VAT on Goldschmidt2019 Prices

As stated above, prices at Goldschmidt2019 include, for the first time, a VAT charge of 21%. This is because, despite all our efforts, the conference was denied a VAT exempt status from the Spanish government and as such, registration, abstract submission and any other fees paid by delegates are all liable for VAT. The European Association of Geochemistry will attempt to offset these VAT charges as far as possible to minimise the cost to delegates.

The European Association of Geochemistry is a non-profit organisation, which means that any surplus from the European Goldschmidt conferences is directly returned to the community to finance the initiatives and expenses of the society. Those initiatives include the creation of open access publications such as Geochemical Perspectives or Geochemical Perspectives Letters, the participation in Elements Magazine, the support of Early Career Scientists, the dissemination of knowledge through Outreach Programs, and the recognition of scientific excellence. The society is run by volunteers and employs two staff members. We wish to stress that volunteers receive neither compensation nor preferential treatment for their time and commitment (even the EAG President pays for registration at Goldschmidt conferences). All efforts are constantly made to keep expenses as low as possible so that the EAG has the means to fulfil its primary goal, the support of the geochemistry community.
