Gerald J. Wasserburg, who passed away in June, 2016 at the age of 89, had a life like few others. One of the “founding fathers” of isotope geochemistry, his professional legacy includes fundamental advances in cosmochemistry, planetary science, solid Earth science, and environmental science. Beyond the publications and awards, he is remembered by escapees of the Lunatic Asylum at Caltech - the name he gave to his research group - not just for his intellect, but also for an unforgettable blend of irreverence, drive, wit, charm, and challenge that inspired and compelled excellence. Join us for an entertaining evening of remembrances about people and discoveries that made our field what it is today.
