Marie Curie’s Latin Quarter: [several proposals]
Following Marie Curie’s steps, discover the paths and the landmarks of this pionneer’s life: the Sorbonne, the garden from the institute of radium, the Ecole de physique et de chimie industrielles where Pierre and Marie discovered polonium and radium. Included, a visit of the Pavilion Curie, part of the “Laboratoire du radium” she ran after her husband death, until 1914.
With striking illustrations, this guided walk covers every aspect of Maria's career, including her youth, the wedding with Pierre Curie, former discoverer of piezoelectricity and specialist of magnetism (the Curie point). We’ll track her major discoveries, twice Nobel Prize-winning, her creation of medical services at the Front during the First World War, her foundation of the Radium Institute as a world scientific center, and her legacy carried on by her daughter Irène, another Nobel recipient.
2-hour walking tour in English with PARCOURS DES SCIENCES. Meet our guide on place de la Sorbonne at the statue of Auguste Comte (bus line 38, 21,27, 5 min from RER B: Luxembourg station). The stroll ends on place Jussieu (Jussieu Station, Subway line 7 or 10).

Versailles Fountain Night Show
On the Saturday evening before the conference enjoy a fairytale stroll in Château de Versailles’s magnificent gardens, magically illuminated, with all the fountains playing and a grand firework display as a crowning point. Tickets cover the cost of bus transport and entrance only, delegates will need to take their own refreshments.

This event is your chance to eat, drink, dance and enjoy live music supplied by our very own house band "Double Scotch". Within a two minute walk from the congress centre we will be enjoying the hospitality of the Meridien Hotel. Celebrate the end of the first day of talks and posters by joining the party. Double Scotch, with EAG President Bernard Marty on lead guitar, will be playing live sets of their accoustic rock, pop, folk and blues catalogue. Relax with a glass, or two, of wine and some light snacks after a busy day in talks, before heading out for dinner in beautiful Paris. Students can buy tickets at the subsidised rate of €20. All other delegates pay the standard rate of €35.

The tradition of the conference banquet as the premier social event of each Goldschmidt will continue this year with a quintessentially Parisian flare. A delicious three course banquet will be served as you gently proceed down the Seine by boat. Dine with friends and colleagues as breath-taking views of some of the most beautiful architecture in the history of civilisation drifts by. As the sunset splashes of colour gradually dissipate you will see Paris come to sparkling life.
